Welcome!
Bloom Wildflowers Therapy, PLLC is a telehealth private practice specializing in speech/language disorders and executive function skills for school age children in North Carolina. Bloom Wildflowers Therapy is a neurodiversity-affirming practice and believes that just as wildflowers make an environment stronger by promoting biodiversity, people who are neurodivergent or children's whose path is different from the 'norm' make the world a more powerful and interesting place.
My Approach
At Bloom Wildflowers Therapy, I believe in a holistic approach to services. That is why I focus on:

-
Using a cognitive based approach to assessment and treatment. Executive functions are often overlooked but hold the keys to success and growth.

-
Connection and building rapport. This is an essential element of good therapy. My clients need to feel safe. Safe to try, safe to fail and safe to be themselves.

-
Neurodiversity affirming therapy. I know that this is an evolving framework that requires a commitment to lifelong learning, both from research and the clients I serve.

-
Personalized assessment and treatment. My approach caters to the needs of each individual, never using a 'one size fits all' approach.

Meet Lysandra Sykes, CCC-SLP
Hello, I'm so glad you are here! I've been working with kids since I was one. I didn't always plan to be a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) but through everything I've done - being an actor, camp counselor, youth director, performing stand-up comedy, I've been fascinated by and passionate about communication.
As an SLP I've worked in numerous settings, such as schools, private practice, teletherapy and skilled nursing facilities. I have worked in California, Vermont and am happy to be back working in my home state of North Carolina. My career has allowed me to work with a wide range of ages and children from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

I have also discovered that too often in my field people focus on what a child can't do. While part of my job is using my expertise to understand the 'how, where and why' of a child's struggles, it's just as important to find the strengths, motivations and interests of each child with whom I work.
